Interaction Design Process
The main interface is based on swiping cards and tapping on squares to snap receipts with the camera. The user triggers a delightful sound and animation when the user submits four receipts.
The lead developer and I ideated on user experience within our technical and logistical limitations. We solved for questions like “how will users snap a photo?” and “how will receipts be verified?”
I led the design effort by creating the look and feel, color scheme, and all accompanying assets, including icons and onboarding. The design is meant to feel friendly and approachable, yet look and feel like a utility app.
In order to design an app that works on virtually every mobile device, I ran the app through an Android simulator to accommodate devices that were close to square all the way to tablet.
Our redesign was a success, outperforming all goals for user acquisition, engagement, and loyalty set by NPD Group.
